Deli & bakery

Cut to order, worth the line

The counter is where the market comes alive — meats and cheeses sliced while you decide, and a bakery case that empties out by evening.

The deli counter

European meats & cheeses

Cured, smoked, and cooked meats in the European style — dry sausages, cold cuts, and smoked specialties — alongside a rotating selection of cheeses, from brined white cheese to aged wheels.

Everything at the counter is conversational: ask for a taste, ask what came in this week, ask what goes with what. Buying 100 grams of three things beats a pound of one.

  • Dry & smoked sausages
  • Cold cuts, sliced to order
  • Sujuk-style sausage
  • Brined & aged cheeses
  • Farmer's cheese

The bakery case

Rye bread, piroshki & pastries

Dense, dark rye and hearth breads; golden piroshki; and European pastries and tea cookies — delivered fresh from a Bay Area bakery rather than trucked in frozen.

Piroshki are the case's celebrity and they do sell out. If you're driving over just for them, call first and we'll tell you honestly what's left.

Serving suggestions

What goes with what

The five-minute zakuski

Buttered rye, sprats or dry sausage from the counter, a sour pickle, sharp mustard. Tea after.

The weekend board

Three meats, three cheeses, something pickled, something sweet. Plan on about 2 oz of meat and 2 oz of cheese per person.

The soup upgrade

A length of smoked sausage from the counter turns a pot of lentils, beans, or cabbage into dinner.

Not sure where to start? Tell us how many people you're feeding and what you like — we'll build the board with you at the counter.
